How did you become involved with contributing to Dear Wonderful You: Letters to Adopted & Fostered Youth?
I was invited and honored to do so.

Tell us about a memorable letter you have received. How did the letter impact your life?
A year and a week ago, I received an email from a 2nd cousin, telling me he knew who my mother was.  I had thought I would never find my mother so this letter was a gift from the Gods, allowing me to truly know where I came from and I’ve had this inner glow ever since.

When you reflect on who you were as a child—what three words would you use to describe your younger self?
Shy, numb, confused

Pick one: pencil, pen, sharpie, crayon
Sharpie

If you were having a really bad day, what song would you listen to?
“River of Dreams”

If you were having an amazing day, what song would you listen to?
“What a Wonderful World”

Pick one: morning, afternoon, evening, late night
Afternoon

Name a literary character whose “character” you find admirable. Why?
John D. MacDonald’s ‘Travis McGee’
Helps out people who have been ‘ripped-off’ and does not ask for money.

Describe your perfect dessert.
Strawberries topped with a mixture of whipped cream and Grand Marnier.

Would you describe yourself as superstitious? Why or why not?
Superstitions don’t make sense to me.

Pick one: blank piece of paper, lined piece of paper, piece of construction paper—
Construction paper

When you are writing, do you prefer silence or sound? Why?
Silence— so I can listen to what’s going on inside my head.

Pick one: Coffee, tea, water, soda—
Tea

What is the first thing you do when you get out of bed in the morning?
Tell my inner child I love him and give him a hug.

Tell us about your life now. What are you working on? Do you have any projects recently released or in the works?
My daily life is spent painting portraits, listening to music, working with adoptees and mothers to help heal their wounds, running healing weekends, support groups, learning Korean, facilitating my nightly adoption chat, and writing.

I am writing my fourth Boots Beaumont mystery (no title yet but will be about human-trafficking.)  www.joesoll.com/Mystery/

I just finished my autobiography, “I Almost Fell Off the Top of the Empire State Building” (which is true!)  www.joesoll.com/Autobio/index.html
